Haltwhistle Young Farmers are Rally champions

THE Haltwhistle Young Farmers club was the big winner at this year’s County Rally in Northumberland.
The event, held at Causey Park near Morpeth, also served as a qualifier for the Northern area and national competitions, with winners representing the Northumberland Federation going forward to the next stages of their competitions.
Haltwhisle took the Rally Shield for gaining the lowest total points on the day with 313. The club’s men’s and junior teams were tug-of-war champions, while they also won the Cambo cup for best club in the stock judging and was jointly awarded the sports cup with Alnwick and Bellingham.
The Alnwick branch was second overall during the day, taking the Stamfordham Cup as runners up with 324 points. Tritlington, on 338 points, came third and also won the Wooler Cup for the best of the smallest 50% of clubs, the Whitley Chapel Cup for the club who improves by moving up the most places since the previous year, and the Industrial Cup for the lowest number of points in the Industrial Section.
