Green light for Teesside business park

DEVELOPERS have pushed the green button on one of the biggest Teesside business parks - two years after original plans were approved.
Planning bosses in Hartlepool have now backed a reserved outline planning application at Wynyard Park - which is also set to be home to a £464m hospital to serve Hartlepool, Stockton and parts of east Durham and Sedgefield.
It’s also hoped the hospital development will help attract clusters of medical related research and support services to the park.
Once home to the Samsung factory, more than 1,000 jobs have already been created at the business park since the electronics giant quit the region five years ago.
Wynyard Park Limited aims to transform more than 350 acres at Wynyard.
When completed, it will provide three million square feet of office space as well as industrial and warehouse facilities.
Outline planning permission for development of the west of the site was first granted in the 1980s and renewed in the 1990s.
However, the latest masterplan has been carefully designed so that the hospital can simply “slot into” the centre of the site as and when necessary.
