Qurios aiming for the big screen

IT WAS the building of a spaceship two years ago that gave a North-East animation firm its first big break on the small screen.
Hartlepool-based Qurios responded to an add in a trade magazine promoting a new sci-fi TV comedy by creating its own interpretation of the spacecraft featured in the show.
The makers of BBC 2’s cult show Hyperdrive immediately got the special effects firm on board and its work was beamed into millions of living rooms across the country.
With the two series’ of the show under its belt alongside a number of other TV shows and video games, the five-year-old company is now targeting Hollywood.
Managing director Niel Bushnell says the group is currently vying for work on a US sci-fi “blockbuster” due for release within 14 months.
