Marine firm wins contract

TEESSIDE’S Wilton Marine Services has secured a multi-million pound contract to supply parts to a North Sea oil rig.

The company, part of the Wilton Group, is nearing completion on the project to supply two rig caissons complete with an array of subsea pipework and structures for the Dunbar and Alwyn Platforms in the North Sea. Wilton Marine Services was awarded the contract by Saipem UK earlier this year for a project being carried out by Total E & P UK.

Director Steven Pearson said: “Each caisson is 150m long. Constructed in one piece they have been technically challenging to manufacture and load out.”

Work on loading out the first of the completed work began yesterday.

Mr Pearson added: “The project is one of a number of projects that the Wilton Group has going through its Port Clarence facility. “
