Ports seals Spanish link

MIDDLESBROUGH-BASED PD Ports, owner and operator of Teesport, has established a formal partnership with Spain’s third largest port.

The twinning arrangement has been established between Teesport and the Port of Tarragona.

The president of the Port of Tarragona, Josep Anton Burgase Rabinad recently visited PD Ports’s chief executive David Robinson and his team at the company’s Queen’s Square headquarters.

The visit included a tour of Teesport and the exchange of contract.

The ports established the relationship through the acquisition of Tarragona Port Services (TPS) by PD Ports’s parent company, Babcock and Brown Infrastructure earlier this year.

Mr Robinson said: “We are delighted to formerly establish a partnership and indeed a firm friendship with our Spanish colleagues. The formal twinning agreement will now lead to the two ports exchanging best practice on a number of technical and marine issues.”
