Good measure of success at more diverse Brulines

PUB measurement company Brulines has reported it is trading in line with expectations and is inching towards the completion of an acquisition – pending OFT approval.
The Stockton group, which won the company of the year title in the Tees Valley heat of The Journal North-East Business Awards 2006, is finding good demand for its services at a time when breweries and pub companies are under pressure from changes in legislation.
Having started out offering highly accurate measurement of beer sales in licensed premises, the company now offers a range of different services, including checking on beer quality and even the performance of gaming machines. Yesterday, the company, headed by chief executive James Dickson, said it was on target to meet market expectations for its trading in the half-year to September 30.
And it was also reported that Brulines’ acquisition of Nucleus Data had been “voluntarily migrated” by the Office of Fair Trading from the fixed timelines of a statutory review process to an administrative review process, which allows more time to consider the full merits of the merger.
If no referral is made to the Competition Commission, it is expected completion of the acquisition will take place next December.
