PD Ports’ £300m Tees vision lands honour

PD Ports has won a top award for its plans for a £300m deep sea container terminal on Teesside, which could create up to 5,500 jobs.

The Middlesbrough-based group took the prestigious Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport award in the category of Transport, Policy and Planning.

The award was presented for the detailed planning process behind its proposal to build the deep sea container terminal at Teesport, known as The Northern Gateway.

David Robinson, chief executive of PD Ports, said: “This is a tremendous achievement, not only for the team at PD Ports but also for all of those who have been involved in and pledged their support for the project so far. This achievement further cements our drive and vision to develop a Northern port to serve Northern markets.”

PD Ports hopes the Government will give the green light to the project in the next few months.
