Print crown double for Tees firm

A TEESSIDE print design company is celebrating after being crowned champion of the world - for the second year running.

The Kall Kwik franchise in Marton Road, Middlesbrough has been named Best In The World at the National Association of Printers’ annual conference in Chicago.

It is the second time the firm has received the accolade after beating off stiff competition from about 1,500 fellow franchises in the United States alone at last year’s conference.

Since its launch in 1989, the Middlesbrough firm has grown from a £100,000 start-up employing two people to a company employing 43 with an annual turnover of £3.5m.

Managing director Piers Mitchell said he the award reflected the quality of work produced by the whole team.

“For a number of years we’ve been the biggest franchise in the UK by quite some distance, and now for the last two years we’ve been the biggest in the world,” he said.

“Given the number of businesses worldwide, I think that’s quite an achievement for a relatively small town in England.”

The business has maintained its base in the heart of Middlesbrough, which Mr Mitchell believes is down to the ongoing economic regeneration of both the town and the wider Tees Valley.

The team’s client list includes national names such as Vauxhall and Parcel Force. It also has a nine-strong design studio.
