‘New era’ as BLNE sets up central HQ

BUSINESS Link North East (BLNE) has moved into new regional headquarters.

The move to Spectrum Business Park in Seaham, County Durham, will see more than 300 staff working together to support companies across the region.

As of April this year, BLNE has managed Business Link services across combining teams from Tees Valley, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Northumberland.

It now co-ordinates these services regionally, while focusing on local needs and local delivery.

Alastair MacColl, chief executive of BLNE, said: “The move to our Seaham headquarters symbolises a new era in business support for the region. It will enable us to operate more efficiently and more effectively.

“Although our head office is now in Seaham, we are well aware of the often very local needs of the businesses we work with.

“We have opened a number of access points throughout the region so the Business Link service will be easier to reach and most of our account managers are now mobile-workers, spending virtually all of their time out in the field. We’re putting our resources where they count.”

Ian Williams, director of business and industry at regional development agency One NorthEast, said: “Bringing Business Link’s operations base into one building is a milestone for the new, regional Business Link service in its work to help develop the economy of North-east England.”

BLNE’s brokers operate across the region in local access points and on a mobile basis.
