Pump firm’sGerman deal

TEESSIDE pump manufacturer Tomlinson Hall has secured a multi-million pound contract.

The Billingham-based company, which last year invested more than £1m in a new site, has struck the deal with one of Europe’s leading manufacturers.

The Teesside firm has forged the partnership with German-based Crane, one of Europe’s largest pump manufacturers, to become the supply and distribution base for its Deoa and Elro products within the UK.

Sales director of Tomlinson Hall, Colin Simpson, said: “Both companies have enjoyed a strong working relationship for some time and this partnership arrangement will allow all UK orders to be channelled and dispatched from Tomlinson Hall’s head office in Billingham, rather than from Crane’s manufacturing site in Germany as before.

“Demand for both Depa and Elro product ranges has grown considerably, especially within the UK’s food and beverage, chemical processing and pharmaceutical industries.

“This streamlined operation will allow us to offer quick turnaround and a next or same day delivery service in most cases.

“Customers will rapidly realise the benefits of this joint partnership agreement and it will allow us to further enhance our professional customer service.”

Tomlinson Hall moved from its Boathouse Lane head office in Stockton, to larger fully integrated premises at Cowpen Lane Industrial Estate, Billingham, last year.

It is the first time that the company has relocated to new premises in almost 90 year of business.

The move was part of the company’s long-term expansion plan to grow into new European markets.

The business was established in 1919 by Alf Tomlinson and originally traded from an attic room selling hardware and engineering supplies to local customers.

The company is now one of the UK’s leading pump manufacturers with distributors in more than 27 countries.
