A TIMBER company with a growing presence in the North-East is heading for 15% growth this year after recording its biggest monthly sales.
North Yorkshire Timber (NYT), which has bases in Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Darlington, is expecting to generate sales of £15m for 2007 – up from £13m in 2006.
The business, based in Northallerton in North Yorkshire with three outlets in the county, is enjoying strong demand for its timber products but is also managing to diversify into stone paving.
NYT bought builder’s merchant Ward and Naylor in Wingate, County Durham last year, to add to its North-East presence.
And now its ambition is paying off with sales during September reaching a 28-year high of £1.4m.
Nick Kershaw, sales and marketing director, said: “The continued growth in an increasingly competitive market is based on commitment to providing excellent service, the quality of the product range and reliability on deliveries.
“We’re stocking more builders’ merchants products as well as timber so our customers can get all they need in one place. Our core ranges of softwood carcassing, redwood, sawn and machined hardwood and softwood continue to sell extremely well but offering a wider range of timber and general building products has made the difference.”
NYT is also investing in its estate – and is nearing completion on a £100,000 programme of investment at its Sunderland outlet, which trades as Joseph Thompson Timber.
