Artist helps draw out creative skills

ARCHITECTS went back to the drawing board after taking part in classes to help unlock their innate creativity.

Newcastle firm Mosedale Gillatt Architects (MGA) commissioned artist Angela Hughes to lead a series of drawing classes designed to stimulate creative thinking among staff.

MGA says it is keen for staff to unlock their traditional drawing skills, as most now operate in a technological world.

Director Tim Mosedale said: “In working with Angela Hughes, we aim to provide an exciting and enjoyable opportunity for our staff to explore their creative skills, whilst encouraging professional development and refreshed thinking.

“Through ongoing staff investment, we aim to keep ahead of our competitors and continue to provide an innovative approach for our clients.”

Earlier this year, professional artist Ms Hughes launched Drawing- Space, an artist-led organisation designed to bring art into the workplace.

She said: “With MGA, we wanted to devise a bespoke series of classes that encourage participants to explore architectural situations by examining the space around them. We launched the programme with a taster class, and it has been amazing to see the artistic talent set free within the team.”
