£20,000 exhaust bending equipment attracts customers

A FAMILY-RUN auto-care business has made a major investment in new equipment at one of its outlets that has had car enthusiasts arriving from all over the region.

North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts has invested more than £20,000 in a special exhaust-bending machine at its Brotton outlet which allows them to produce any style of exhaust for any style of car.

And Brotton outlet manager, Tony Darcy, says the new American system is attracting a wide variety of drivers from right across the region.

“We brought this system in as we knew there was a market for it.

“But even we have been surprised at some of the diversity of the customers who have heard that we can make just about any style of exhaust for their cars.”

Tony added: “Word has quickly spread among the younger generation of so called ‘pimped’ cars where bigger or unique exhausts are all part of the appearance of their modified vehicles.

“Some of the requests are incredible, but the investment in the new equipment means we can produce an exhaust system to just about any specification.”

Owners of vintage and foreign cars are also taking advantage of the service.

North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts has specially trained technicians and welders on-site at Brotton to be able to deal with customer requests.

The machinery can cater for more than 100 different styles of stainless steel exhausts.

North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts has seven retail outlets in Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Guisborough, Marske, Brotton, York and Goole, with a new one in Knaresborough due to open early 2008.

The company employs 285 staff.
