Spark to take on 100

MORE than 100 jobs are to be created at an outsourcing company as its business expands over Christmas.

Gateshead-based Spark Response is to increase its sales force from 180 to around 300 in time for the holiday with many expected to stay on into the New Year.

The company, which was founded in 1988 as Mailcom and reinvented itself as Spark in 1999, dispatches goods and takes orders on behalf of international clients as well as running a contact centre.

It has secured a number of new contracts, including health supplements provider Flinndal and US scented candle manufacturer Gold Canyon. The business believes the new contracts, along with its ongoing business with bigger clients such as Powergen, will help increase its turnover from £10.5m to £12m by the end of its current financial year.

Colin Bongartz, head of contact centres at Spark Response, said: “Our outbound team has grown steadily over the past 18 months, as our existing partnership with Powergen continues to develop and our newly-formed relationship with Flinndal ramps up into what will hopefully become a massive success for both Spark and the client.”
