Pipeline contract finished on time
HARTLEPOOL’S Corus Tubes is celebrating after completing a major North Sea pipeline project within a tight timescale.
The Teesside team has completed the project for Apache North Sea within just nine weeks.
Corus Tubes, a business unit of Corus, manufactured and delivered 5.25km of replacement pipeline for the Forties field, which is 110 miles off the coast of Scotland from Aberdeen.
The pipeline is now in place and is ready for tie-in with the complete project having taken 95 days from conception to completion.
“The project with Apache reflects our leading edge capabilities in pipe production and delivery,” said Corus Tubes Energy business director Tim Bird.
The announcement is the latest good news for Corus Tubes, which employs about 700 at its sites in Hartlepool. It recently secured a major contract to manufacture and deliver almost 200 miles of pipe to one of the deepest pipelines in the world, in the Gulf of Mexico.
