Turnover boost for motor company

TEESSIDE-BASED North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts has increased turnover by almost a fifth and is predicting further growth in the coming year.

The Middlesbrough-based company, which recently announced it was set to recruit 300 staff as it looks to double the size of its business, said turnover climbed 19% in the last 12 months to £39.9m.

The firm plans to create new jobs as it rolls out its seven-strong chain of retail outlets throughout the North-east and North Yorkshire.

Gavin Marshall, managing director, said: “This is a great achievement and one that I am keen that the whole team takes credit for.

“The board and I are now keen to follow a business plan that involves further growth, and we aim to increase our turnover for the next year by at least another 10% bringing us a figure of around £44m.”

The motor care company, which celebrates its 36th anniversary this year, originally launched as a tyre garage in Brotton, Cleveland.

It now has three warehouses and seven retail outlets across the North East and Yorkshire with another due to open in Knaresborough in January.

It has grown from tyre and exhaust care, to MOT's, servicing and general motor care services.

It currently employs 278 people.
