Rokeby announces new £50m development
DEVELOPERS of the prestigious Surtees Business Park at Stockton, which has attracted top names including Aker Kvaerner and award-winning Brulines, has announced a twin, £50m development just a mile along the road.
Nick Fordy, director of Rokeby property company, said his firm acquired the former Caterpillar depot at Queen Elizabeth Way against stiff competition. “It overlooks the river and is one of the last few sites on Preston Farm.”
Including 200,000 sq ft of high-spec office space, an independent day nursery and a pub hotel, the new development will be the biggest undertaken by Rokeby on Teesside.
Given the current economic climate, Mr Fordy admitted he was taking a punt on companies having the cash to invest. The first of the three or four stage development will be released early next year.
“The market is all over the place. People are very nervous. Certain sectors are still okay, others are very, very worried. What do you do? All go and hide?”
