Too much to do to take time off

UP TO 40% of employees will work between today and the end of the year, a survey by Post Office travel services found today.

Staff claim they have too much to do to take time off, while others have missed out to colleagues in the race to put themselves down for holidays.

A handful of the 2,042 adults polled said they like their jobs so much, they are prepared to work rather than be at home with loved ones.

The survey also showed 37% of all workers will not take their full annual holiday entitlement in 2007, meaning as many as 1.3 billion holiday days will be lost.

People working for the Government or in the public sector are most likely to work over Christmas, while those working in advertising, marketing and public relations are least likely to be working.
