A record year is on the cards at Main-Tel

TEESSIDE communications company Main-Tel is predicting a record turnover of £2m this financial year - 40% up on last year - following an intensive period of expansion.

The Thornaby-based firm has experienced significant growth in the past three years and clients include Giorgio Armani, Middlesbrough Football Club and Toyota Motor Europe.

The firm was established by former BT engineering Tom Howson in 1983 to supply and install telephone systems.

It has since grown into a national supplier of business communication systems, with offices in Northern Ireland and the South of England.

The company has created six jobs in the past 12 months taking its workforce to about 40. Main-Tel is currently recruiting staff to cope with new contract wins and is also on the verge of closing a deal on new premises, which will create another six jobs.

“We are delighted with the success of Main-Tel, we have worked extremely hard on building the company up to be a UK leading outfit and we are now reaping the benefits, said Mr Howson.

Main-Tel predicts a further £1m growth for the next financial year.
