Healthcare firm wins top award

A TEESSIDE company is among a trio of North-east healthcare firms to achieve national awards success.
Hartlepool-based Hart Biologicals has taken the Export Achievement Award at the national Medilink UK Healthcare Business Awards.
The Teesside firm has established new markets in Germany, the USA and Spain, increasing turnover by 47%.
Hart Biologicals manufactures a range of clinical laboratory diagnostic products, suitable for the worldwide healthcare market, predominantly clinical diagnostic reagents for use by hospitals, GPs and pharmacies involved in the investigation of blood clotting disorders.
Cels, the organisation driving the healthcare economy in the North-east, has celebrated the region’s success in the awards - since three out of the five national winners hail from the North-east.
Tyneside-based ImmunoDiagnostic Systems, a manufacturer of specialist manual healthcare diagnostics kits for bone disease and calcium dysfunction, won the Growth in Sector Award.
Winner of the Partnership with the NHS Award was Peacocks Medical Group, based in Newcastle.
All winners qualified for the Medilink finals after successfully winning in the same categories at the first Business for Life awards hosted by Cels Healthcare Network, which took place last November and recognised the achievements and growth of the healthcare sector in the region.
