Turkish delight for Tees
A TEESSIDE logistics business has won a contract to bring more than 20,000 tonnes of steel tubes a year from Turkey into the country.
AV Dawson will distribute the long-length sections from its base on the banks of the River Tees in Middlesbrough.
The contract win brings with it a sense of personal pride for the family-run firm as well as the commercial benefits because the shipments used to be handled by AV Dawson 12 years ago, before they lost the contract to rivals on the west coast.
Freight company Lockwood Shipping has awarded the contract to AV Dawson.
Gary Dawson, AV Dawson managing director, said: “This contract repays the seriously hard work we have put in to building up our business.”
The Turkish steel win is one in a line of new business to come to the firm which has operated Teesside since 1938.
