£2.5m office plans to be unveiled

MULTI-MILLION pound office development plans are set to be unveiled in Stockton tomorrow.

A public consultation event will reveal details of the £2.5m scheme off Portrack Lane, which includes two office blocks, covering 1,916sq m at the site previously occupied by engineering company Francis Brown.

Steve Barker, head of planning at Darlington-based Blackett Hart and Pratt - which is acting as agent for the scheme - said the plan was to replace old industrial buildings at the site.

“This area is ripe for development,” he added.

“The North Shore regeneration project in Stockton is coming on stream in the near future, and we have already seen development of a new road system.

“This makes this location a gateway site.”

Developers have not been named, but Mr Barker said it was a speculative project and a planning application would be submitted in the near future.

“Depending on how long the planning process takes, work could start on the project later this year,” he added.

“The office development has been designed to work as two units - or could be combined as one, depending on what is required.”

Graphical representations of the proposed offices will be unveiled tomorrow from 2-5pm as part of the pre-planning application public consultation process.

Local businesses and other interested parties will have the opportunity to obtain further information from members of the team behind the development.

The event is being held in premises at the development site on Church Road, off Portrack Lane, in Stockton.
