Campaign to put Tees ‘on radar’

A MAJOR inward investment campaign is being drawn up to attract firms to Tees Valley.

Regional development agency One NorthEast is consulting some of the area's biggest operators on a national advertising programme, which is likely to focus on the processing and digital media industries, among others.

It will build on the regional development agency’s previously successful Passionate People, Passionate Places strand.

A spokesman said the campaign had “focused on successful businesses in the past, but not gone out of its way to target specific markets and sectors”.

Many bosses have argued that more needs to be done to put Teesside on the radar of prime companies whose presence would stimulate growth among a host of smaller suppliers in the region - much as Nissan has for Tyneside.

The agency, which has not put a figure on the campaign, said it planned to roll out the programme this summer.
