THE new chief executive of one of the biggest housing associations in the UK has resigned – less than a month after he took over in the post.
Colin Houlihan has stepped down from the Gosforth-based Home group with immediate effect. He took the reins at the start of the year from Malcolm Levi, who retired at the end of 2007 after a decade at the helm of the group, which provides affordable and supported housing.
A Home spokesman said: “Colin Houlihan resigned from his position as Home chief executive in January and executive director of strategy, Peter Stott, has taken over as acting chief executive pending the appointment of a replacement.
“Home’s board and the executive team are united in their strategic commitment to driving forward customer excellence as well as investment in our homes and care and support services.”
The spokesman refused to comment on reports that Mr Houlihan had been suspended prior to his resignation. He added that is was difficult to put a timeframe on when a successor would be appointed.
