Councillors to attend property event

REGENERATION chiefs representing some of the biggest investment opportunities in Tees Valley are heading for Cannes in France today to attend the world’s premier real estate summit.

Private sector companies will spearhead the North-east’s delegation backed by local authorities, an urban regeneration firm and One NorthEast at MIPIM 2008.

The thousands of pounds spent in one of the world’s most exclusive resorts by regional development agencies came under fire recently on BBC Radio’s investigative File on Four programme, which questioned the value to the tax payer.

But David Taylor, group md of construction and property consultants Summers-Inman, who will be joining the delegation, said: “We can achieve more in this concentrated four-day visit than we can in many weeks at home.”
