THE developer of a £14m luxury hotel in the Northumberland countryside has unveiled some of the artwork which will adorn the project.
Brian Burnie, the millionaire owner of Doxford Hall near Chathill in Northumberland, is close to opening up a country house hotel close to where the hall stands. He has commissioned local historian and artist Charles Wesencraft to produce paintings of Northumbrian castles, together with potted histories, to be displayed in each of the hotel’s 25 rooms.
Mr Burnie says he wants the hotel building to stand as his legacy – and to be part of the Northumbrian landscape as long as Doxford Hall has been.
He said: “Hopefully it will be around for a couple of hundred years. I want to be remembered by this magnificent building.
