Power firm adds some spark to our awards

ONE of the UK’s leading power and gas companies has signed up to sponsor the Emerging Dealmaker of the Year category in The Journal’s Deal Awards.

E.ON is the latest high-profile organisation to support the awards, which are designed to showcase the strength of the corporate market in the North East and recognise the talent and leadership qualities within the region’s corporate finance community.

The Emerging Dealmaker category will unveil the rising star of dealmaking – the individual who in a short space of time has made an impact on the market through intuition, imagination and excellent results.

E.ON has recently opened an office in Newcastle and company key account managers Brian Gladwin and Jerry Sedcole are anticipating working closely with many of the region’s corporate and small businesses.

Mr Sedcole said: “We are delighted to be associated with The Journal’s Deal Awards. This is a prestigious competition which will help celebrate the vibrancy of the North East economy and provide recognition to the individuals and organisations that are driving it forward.”

Mr Gladwin said: “Our expertise means we have the potential to make a real difference to the way that organisations use and perceive energy. The North East offers us real opportunities and we are looking forward to working in close partnership with the local business community.”

Launched by The Journal and our sponsors earlier this year, the awards are designed to recognise the importance to the regional economy of business deals and the people who create them. We have received a whole host of entries to ensure the competition in the various categories will be hard-fought and there is still one week to enter.

The award categories are: Acquisition of the Year, Sale of the Year, MBO/MBI of the Year, Small/Mid-Size Company Deal of the Year, Emerging Dealmaker of the Year, Dealmaker of the Year and Deal of the Year. Then there will be the overall Deal of the Year award.

SPONSORS

The title sponsor for the awards is Watson Burton LLP and individual categories are sponsored by UBS Wealth Management, unw Chartered Accountants, Durham Business School and Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets.
