Biometrics UK has finger on security pulse

A BUSINESS is creating 15 jobs with the launch of its latest fingerprint reading equipment.

Newcastle’s Biometrics UK said it would introduce its Evolution range -– its fastest and most robust fingerprint reader – at the security industry’s IFSEC annual exhibition, held at the NEC in Birmingham next month.

The new product will create six jobs at the company’s Newcastle headquarters – three in technical support and three in sales and administration – and nine in its regional sales franchise offices in Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, North West and South West London, Thames Valley, Swansea and Bournemouth.

Biometrics UK was set up in 2000, collaborated with New Mexico-based Lumidigm Inc to develop the equipment. UK Biometrics project managed the development, while Lumidigm created the biometric reader.

The Evolution product can scan one million records in one second.
