Davy Roll’s award joy

A SUCCESSFUL manufacturer has come out as the top regional exporter in a prestigious trade award.

Gateshead-based The Davy Roll Company impressed the judges with its exporting success to become the North East winner of the annual International Trade Awards 2008.

Davy Roll’s export acumen has helped stave off stiff competition and secured enough orders of its high quality steel rolls to maintain the business at full capacity until 2009.

Managing director Steve Bell said: “We’ve battled through some seriously testing times and we’re delighted with this accolade – but we won’t be taking it for granted that we’ve more customers than we can cope with.”

Mr King and commercial manager Carl Patterson collected the award at an event held at the Malmaison Hotel in Newcastle.

They were presented with their certificate by HSBC’s commercial director for the North, Allan Wilkinson, Martin Rogers, HSBC international business manager, and Ian Campbell, consultant editor of International Trade Today.

Davy Roll will now go through to the national final.
