SIX North-East business leaders are short-listed among 44 contenders for the title North Entrepreneur Of The Year.
One finalist pleased with the nomination is Tony Trapp, who runs The Engineering Business, an equipment supplier for the offshore oil and gas, defence and renewables market based in Riding Mill, Northumberland.
He said: “I’ve been in this business for many years so it is very nice to have been recognised in this way.”
Tony will be joined at the awards dinner at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel in June by the five other local finalists, Tarek Nseir of Newcastle-based digital web design agency TH_NK; James Steele of Attends Healthcare Group, based in Newcastle; David Wilson of Henson Motor Group; Valda Goodfellow of Continental Chef Supplies Ltd based in Peterlee, County Durham and Kate Welch of Acumen Community Enterprise Development Trust Ltd, also based in Peterlee.
Event partner Andrew Spence of Ernst & Young accountancy firm in Newcastle said: “The calibre of entrants is outstanding. It seems the current economic climate is not discouraging North-East business men and women to shout about their success.”
