THE former Gastro Restaurant in Gladstone Street, just off the A167 in Northgate, Darlington, has been sold by the Newcastle office of Christie and Co.
Purchasers Mr Chi-Kin Lee and Mr Tze-Ming Kwan - who own Chinese food wholesale firm T&S Foods Ltd - plan to refurbish the premises and open a buffet-style Chinese restaurant.
Brent Smithson, of Christie & Co, said: “The sale of the former Gastro Restaurant generated a high level of interest and a competitive bidding situation quickly arose, highlighting the strong demand for licensed freehold premises in Darlington town centre.”
Gladstone Street is part of Darlington's main leisure circuit and is located just off a main route into the town from the A1 motorway.
The end-of-terrace property comprises a 40-cover ground floor restaurant, a small bar and an attractive decked patio on the first floor and a large car park to the rear.
The freehold interest in the restaurant was sold for an undisclosed figure after Christie and Co sought £229,000 for the freehold interest.
