TEESSIDE food producers were encouraged today to put themselves forward for the biggest food show in the world.

UK Trade & Investment and Northumbria Larder, which leads the new North-east regional food group, is hoping to take firms to SIAL - the global showcase for innovation in the food industry - which is in Paris in October.

Jeff Bean, UK Trade & Investment's Regional Specialist International Trade Adviser for the food and drink sector, said: "SIAL attracts more than 140,000 visitors and 5,300 exhibitors every year.

“It is the key event for food industry professionals from food manufacturers and retailers to distributors, importers and wholesalers as well as those involved in institutional and commercial catering.

"We've teamed up with Northumbria Larder to show local companies what attending an exhibition like SIAL can do for their business.”
