AN iconic company which once employed more than 30,000 people in the region is set to disappear following its takeover.
Chemical giant ICI, which was once a major employer on Teesside, was finally taken over by Dutch firm AkzoNobel in March after lengthy negotiations.
And now the company has announced its brand strategy which includes the discontinuation of the ICI name.
AkzoNobel chief executive Hans Wijers said : “Our strategy now is to combine the strong AkzoNobel business-to-business reputation with the former ICI’s excellent consumer brands reputation.
“This will create a powerful brand with significant global reach and incredible potential for growth.”
