WORK has started on a centre which will house around 20 start-up companies involved in business based on the latest scientific research.
The second phase of the NetPark, near Sedgefield, will see a new building with room for around 80 workers on a site next to the first part of the technology park.
The centre, designed by Sedgefield-based architects Dewjo’c, will house flexible office and laboratory accommodation for research and development start-up companies. The park aims to attract companies in the field of nano-technology and micro-technology, photonics, software and microelectronics, establishing the region as a global leader, with companies and universities using the facilities for ground-breaking work.
Dewjo’c was commissioned to design the building by the County Durham Development Company (CDDC) on behalf of Durham County Council.
