Partners spread the support

WELFARE-TO-WORK organisation Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) has joined forces with more than 20 Teesside recruitment agencies to discover how they can work together to support local businesses and the unemployed.

PPDG, which has helped more than 5,500 Teessiders into work over the past four years, organised the breakfast event to create links with recruitment agencies so they can work together and support people into sustainable employment.

Representatives from agencies, including Meridian Investor and 247 Staff, attended the event and listened to a presentation by PPDG and had a tour of both the centre on Albert Road and Learn Direct.

Mark Fryett, Middlesbrough centre manager for PPDG, said: “This event was very important to us, we wanted to establish that we can work together with recruitment agencies in the region and supplement their endeavours – we are not in competition with them.

“It makes perfect sense for us to work together as we have the training and support programmes to help unemployed people gain the confidence and skills to go back into work, as well as provide a pool of job-ready staff to businesses with vacancies to fill.”

Managing director Malcolm Watson, from 247 Staff, on Albert Road, Middlesbrough, said the event had uncovered opportunities to work together with the same shared goal: “Pertemps and 247 Staff, along with the other agencies, have the same aim to help improve employment levels in Teesside. This event has helped create a relationship between the companies; by working together we can make a real difference.”
