Enterprising idea for kids from finalist Matt
IF WE Can, You Can finalist Matt Stirland plans to run business master classes for children as young as 11.
The fireman from Guisborough whose plan to launch Playhouse - a chain of kids’ health clubs - won him a place in the public voting round of the entrepreneurs’ challenge, will target secondary schools across the Tees Valley.
He hopes to enlist the help of well known local business leaders as mentors for the scheme, which could start in September.
“My 11-year-old son, George, is starting comprehensive school in the autumn and we need to be educating children of this age about basic business principles. I’m passionate about getting more young people to start their own business,” he said.
Playhouse is going head-to-head with Nathan Robinson’s Barclay Elsdon Lettings business in Saltburn in the If We Can, You Can challenge.
