No need for Teesside base says law firm

LAW firm Watson Burton has revealed it has no plans to establish a Teesside office after completing a merger with Weybridge technology specialist Trevor Robinson & Co.

The firm, which has SABIC, Wynyard Limited, Dewj'oc Architects and Middlesbrough PCT, among its client list, plans to develop its Newcastle and Leeds offices and take advantage of a growing need for legal services in the technology industry.

Gillian Hall, who is chairman of Watson Burton’s Strategy Board and who negotiated the merger with chief executive Patrick Harwood, said: “Our clients say they are well served by our Newcastle and Leeds offices and a need for a Teesside base has not been identified.

“However, we will always look for new opportunities to develop our services.”

Weybridge-based Trevor Robinson & Co acts for substantial technology clients and other international businesses such as SAP, Panasonic, Petrobras, Cryolife and the Northern Trust Company. World-leading business software company SAP has been a client for more than 14 years and Petrobras, the world’s sixth largest oil company, for over 25 years.
