A firm to count on for 100 years

MIDDLESBROUGH accountancy firm Chipchase Manners is celebrating 100 years in practice.

The biggest independent operator in Middlesbrough, established in Albert Road in 1908 by Charles Chipchase, it is now among a chain of UK-wide offices bearing the Chipchase name.

The firm, now in Linthorpe Road, employs 30 people and clients range from small trading businesses to £30m-turnover companies, many with offshore interests.

Steve Cossins, one of three partners, said the growth was based on developing specialist skills and by evolving services and technology.

Ninety per cent of 2007 client tax returns were filed online and more than 50% of all communication with clients was electronic.
