Entrepreneurs stay positive
NORTH-east entrepreneurs are more likely to drink wine than beer, love the local countryside, and would rather get behind the wheel of a Bentley than worry about their carbon emissions.
They also believe the current economic climate is creating more opportunities for others like them. According to a survey by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, 90% believed prospects for self-starters in the region over the next 12 months were good, with most saying that national media had over-hyped the downturn.
But it was hard to find like-minds, the 230 respondents said. Half struggled to recruit people who shared their drive and vision, nevertheless they remain fiercely loyal to the region.
Forum chief executive Carole Beverley said it was a fascinating insight.
“Most (entrepreneurs) are in business for the challenge and can maintain a positive outlook even when things go wrong.”
