Firms invited to supply 2010 Tall Ships festival
BUSINESSES are being courted to supply the Tall Ships festival due to dock at Hartlepool in 2010.
The £3.5m event, backed by Hartlepool Borough Council, hosts PD Ports and Hartlepool Marina, is due to see one million visitors flood into the town over four days.
In 2005, the tall ships race hosted by Gateshead and Newcastle saw £50m generated on the back of a £2.7m spend.
Hartlepool project manager Michelle Daurat said there was no reason why Teesside could not expect similar returns, while the economic legacy of the race could be worth even more.
“Businesses will benefit simply from getting Hartlepool on the map,” she said.
Later this year, they will be invited to the first in a series of tendering seminars at which opportunities to supply everything from stages to traffic control systems will be outlined.
Meanwhile, organisers are inviting interest from business sponsors large and small.
