Move to simplify support

SUPPORT to the region’s manufacturers is to be delivered through a new organisation.

Regional development agency One NorthEast has selected PA Consulting to manage its £30m contract to March 2013, which will provide the combined Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) and the North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA). One NorthEast says it is aligning the services to simplify, streamline and improve manufacturing and productivity support.

The MAS-NEPA project is being part financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund Competitiveness Programme 2007-13, securing £7.6m investment through the agency.

PA Consulting is an international private sector company with a track record in delivering high quality manufacturing services. It will manage and deliver the new contract from premises located within the region.

NEPA has saved regional manufacturers £20m in productivity costs since 2004, assisted over 375 companies in depth helping them to achieve millions in productivity savings, and safeguarding more than 3,000 jobs by adopting lean manufacturing principles into their businesses.
