Family-run VW dealers Pulman buy Mill Garages

A FAMILY-RUN car retailer has expanded into Sunderland with the acquisition of a new garage.

Durham-based Volkswagen dealer Pulman has bought Mill Garages on Newcastle Road, increasing its workforce up to 120.

The entire Mill Garages workforce will be retained at the site which will have the capacity to house seven new VWs in the showroom alongside 50 used cars and seven bay workshops.

Mill Garages, which had been owned by Inchscape, will change its name to Pulman Volkswagen and will sell new and used vehicles. According to Pulman, which sells around 2,000 new and 850 used cars a year, the move will cement its position as one of largest VW dealers in the country.

Managing director Mike Pulman said: “We are very proud to be one of Volkswagen’s top 10 retailers in the UK. The expansion into Sunderland clearly demonstrates our commitment to growing with the Volkswagen brand while delivering a first-class service and we are looking forward to building the same reputation in Sunderland as we have done in Durham.”
