A ‘brain drain’ reversal
TECHCONSULT UK has clinched a £100,000 contract to supply up to 50 skilled offshore workers to Darlington sub-sea specialist CTC Marine Projects Ltd - which climbed 56 places to 117th in this year’s Top 250 North-east companies.
MD of the Wilton recruitment firm, Steve Guest, claims the deal is further evidence of a “brain drain” reversal on Teesside.
He believes that local people who previously moved out of the area are being tempted back by competitive salaries and high-value projects in the oil and gas, offshore, sub-sea and marine sectors.
He said: “Increasingly, clients are wanting to recruit local people who are based in the region or who have returned from working abroad. More people are looking at Teesside as a great place to live and work.”
During the next 12 months, TechConsult UK will provide specialist permanent and contract personnel to work on CTC projects around the world.
