A YOUNG entrepreneur is hoping to boost sales at his fledgling online golf store with an expected surge of interest in the sport following the dramas at this year’s Open.
Jamie O’Neill, 21, believes golflocker Golf Locker business student is set to build on its first year’s £250,000 turnover.
Jamie said: “Golf is one of the up and coming popular sports in the North East and I have certainly been impressed by how many people want to pick it up by purchasing one of our starter bags. Whenever a big sporting tournament is broadcast on TV you always get people surfing for the sport on the internet.”
The site, www.thegolflocker.co.uk, sells a wide range of equipment from tees to videos aimed at improving accuracy and swing. It also sells a starter bag at £90, which includes a driver, irons, putters and balls.
The young entrepreneur is halfway through a business degree at Northumbria University.
