A MIDDLESBROUGH company is creating new jobs with a £3m investment in new premises.
Intelect UK, based at Riverside Park Industrial Estate, is building the new multi-million pound premises just down the road from its present headquarters to create a one-stop-shop that will bring each of its disciplines together in a courtyard with four buildings - each about 9,500sq ft in area.
The expansion will create 21 new jobs within the Intelect UK group.
The company was founded in 1997 and started out in a one-room office in Broadcasting House, Middlesbrough, with six staff.
The company added Intelect Mechanical to its portfolio in 2005 and grew again with the opening of Intel Machine Services earlier this year. The company now employs 92 people across the group.
Francis Cormican, one of the founders of Intelect, said: “The idea of moving to the new premises is to take us on to the next tier and help us expand even further.”
The firm has been helped with its expansion plans by Hartlepool accountants Horwath Clark Whitehill and regional development agency One NorthEast.
Brian Beaumont, business development specialist at Horwath Clark Whitehill, helped Intelect UK secure a £130,000 Selected Finance for Industry (SFI) grant from One NorthEast.
The grant was awarded jointly to Intelect UK, Intelect Machine Services and Intelect Mechanical to help fund the new three-acre site and support the firm in installing new machinery and other equipment.
Mr Beaumont said: “It is great to see a local company bucking the trend, in what are generally hard times.”
Ken Samson, business finance manager at One NorthEast, said: “All three firms under the Intelect banner are excellent examples of rapidly growing businesses in the region, and it is great One NorthEast is able to provide support at such a crucial time in their development.”
