Boost for county

EFFORTS to establish County Durham on the global stage as a centre of the knowledge-based economy have been boosted by a trade visit from Dubai.

Mohamed Al Bastaki, a senior officer from UK Trade and Investment based at the UK Embassy in Dubai, has been looking for trade and investment opportunities in the North East for Dubai and United Arab Emirates-based businesses and investors. He met leaders from a number of companies during his visit to the North East Technology Park (NETPark) in Sedgefield.

A conference is now being organised in Dubai by UKTI to focus on building links between British businesses and their counterparts in the Middle East.
