Chris leads way in virtualisation

A COMPUTER technician from Teesside has become one of the first people in the North-east to gain an important qualification to allow him to introduce businesses to new ways of making their computer networks more cost effective.

Chris Johnson, an IT technician at MC Ware in Stokesley, passed his world-recognised VM Ware exams, making him one of the first professionals in the field of computer virtualisation in the region.

VM Ware is the technology used worldwide to implement virtual computer networks. Virtualisation is increasingly being used to save companies money and make their computer networks more efficient. The VM Ware technology allows one computer do the job of many saving thousands of pounds as companies only have to buy one server.

Virtual servers and desktops mean that businesses can have multiple systems and applications running both locally and remotely. Energy, maintenance and hardware costs are drastically reduced and security and disaster recovery processes improved. Businesses can operate from locations anywhere in the world.

VM Ware technology works by turning hardware into software and by creating a virtual machine that can run its own operating system and applications.

Chris Johnson, from Skelton, underwent an intensive training and examination process for MC Ware to become a VM Ware Certified Professional. MC Ware also sent Chris to the VM World 2007 conference in San Francisco as part of his training, where he was able to view all of the VM Ware solutions available.

Chris said: “Virtualisation is completely altering the landscape of the computer world as more people understand how easy it is to install and appreciate how effective it is for business efficiency. It’s changing the way people use IT.”

Jonathan Wheatley, managing director of MC Ware, said: “Chris’s qualification is a real asset to our company. It means that we can now offer this unique service which will transform the way people use computers.”
