Newboulds meat set for Asda shelves

HURWORTH-BASED Country Valley Foods has launched 18 fresh meat products into Asda’s North-east stores under its well-known Teesside Newboulds butchers brand.

Newboulds, with 12 shops across the Tees Valley, has been selling top quality beef, lamb, pork, poultry, pies and sausages since 1856.

Now it’s locally produced matured beef, lamb and pork cuts, including sirloin steak, pork loin steaks and lamb chops, will appear in prepacks on shelves in Asda stores on Portrack Lane, Stockton, South Bank, Middlesbrough, and in Darlington, Hartlepool and Gateshead. It follows the successful introduction last year of its Famous Thin Pork Sausage into Asda, which will now promote a new sausage line - Riverside Pork Sausage, named after Middlesbrough’s football stadium.

Newboulds brand owner, Country Valley Foods, which acquired the string of family-owned butchers last year, has expanded its processing and hanging facilities in order to develop supply chains with local farmers.

“We are thrilled to be launching products in to Asda and hope to attract customers with our quality, local lines,” said Ruth Conner, Country Valley Foods’ marketing manager.
