Pan Haggerty opens doors at 21

ONE of Newcastle’s best known gastronomic addresses is back in the restaurant businesses.

Pan Haggerty, at 21 Queen Street on the Quayside, has opened on the site of Terry Laybourne’s former Cafe 21.

Meanwhile, Pan Haggerty, which is named after the traditional Northumberland dish of potatoes, onions and cheese, specialises in large portions of hearty British dishes under head chef Simon Wood, whose previous posts include McCoy’s at The Baltic and The Grainger Rooms.

The restaurant is owned by business partners Mike Morley and Craig Potts.

The restaurant serves locally- sourced food in dishes such as roast lamb with bubble and squeak, roast shallots and mint gravy.

Of course, Pan Haggerty will be on the menu daily.
