Investment pays off for Brettle

A BOOMING process sector is helping a small Teesside engineering company go from strength to strength.

Steve Brettle Fabrication, a specialist steel fabrication and welding company, has secured work in the petrochemical sector to keep its workforce busy until at least April or May next year.

The Middlesbrough-based company makes pipe supports, access platforms, safety gates, stairways and ladders. It is currently supplying pipe support structures and steelwork for a large project at Wilton. It has increased its workforce by two as it targets new sectors following a £30,000 investment in section rolling and welding equipment.

Owner Steve Brettle said the new equipment will improve quality and delivery times by increasing its in-house capability for steel rolling pipes, angles and channels, work it previously placed with sub-contractors.

The latest investment means the company has spent close to £100,000 in the past 20 months in plant and machinery since more than doubling its workspace with a move to Bowes Road Industrial Estate, at Riverside Park, Middlesbrough. It now employs 12 people.
